Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) will be hosting Institute Day 2023 on March 3 at the Q Center in St. Charles. Institute Days are designed to help educators join with other colleagues on a variety of topics such as student experiences, curriculum discussions, sharing teaching methods, and partaking/listening to guest speaker lectures.
Patricia Dal Santo, Regional Superintendent at Kane County ROE, shared her thoughts on Institute Day events commenting “Institute Day is a successful collaboration with the school districts of Kane County. The purpose is to further equip educators to lead, support, and inspire in their schools. Kane County ROE staff pour their time and talents into making this day impactful for all who participate.”
Institute Day will highlight two keynote speakers – One of the two Keynote speakers is Aaron Polansky, who wrote Dolphins in Trees: A Children’s Book with Implications for All of Us. Dolphins in Trees has been used to guide leadership teams, school systems, cultural expectations, and family values throughout the country and internationally. His second book, Beyond Us, has received national attention and was written about, and illustrated by, one of his Graphic Design and Communication students. Aaron’s third book, Finding Purpose as a tool to help readers move beyond doubt to a place of inspired action.
The second keynote speaker is Monica Genta. Monica is the author of four books, Game Changers, 180 Days of Awesome, Crushing It For Kids, and The Rooted Classroom, a classroom teacher, and international educational consultant and keynote speaker. Monica’s TED talk has been viewed by thousands of educators from all over the world. She has earned a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction and a Masters in Educational Leadership & Administration and is a National Board Certified teacher.
