Retirement is an exciting event in so many people’s lives. The Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) is sharing the announcement of two team members who will be retiring this summer.

Meg Fetzer, Director of Finance, has been with the ROE for 10 years. Fetzer has been a huge part of tracking the budget for the ROE but also is the staff member who onboards every new employee. Meg reflected “I always enjoy welcoming new employees to the ROE as part of the onboarding process. Everyone is always so energized and positive, which is very contagious.”

Fetzer mentioned about her new adventure into retirement “I’m excited to have more time to work on all my hobbies such as sewing and gardening. I also enjoy going on long bike rides with my husband. We will have much more time to devote to all our leisure activities.”

Deb Dempsey, McKinney-Vento Equal Chance Coordinator, has been with the ROE for 17 years. The Equal Chance Coordinator is a grant funded program which allows Deb to work with all Kane County school districts, students, and families in homeless situations for the purpose of removing barriers for children/youth to enroll, attend and have a chance to succeed in school.

According to Dempsey “The past 17 years have flown by. I consider the staff, my Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent a second family. I appreciate that I have been trusted and allowed to do the work I do and that they appreciate that everything I do is in the best interest of the students, families, and districts. Every staff member always goes out of their way and is always willing to jump in and help me with anything I need. They all hold a special place in my heart, and I will miss everyone.”

Patricia Dal Santo, Regional Superintendent at Kane County ROE, said about the team member retirements “Meg and Deb have been an integral part of the Kane County ROE for so long, it’s going to be quite the change not seeing their faces in the office every day. I wish nothing but happiness in their retirement.”
