ABOUT US

Regional Offices of Education are essential support agencies that provide a range of services to local public school districts and academic institutions. The Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) is one of 38 educational service agencies in Illinois. Located in Geneva, we serve 9,600 educators across 524 square miles that span nine school districts across Kane County (U-46, Batavia 101, West Aurora 129, East Aurora 131, District 300, Central 301, Kaneland 302, St. Charles 303, and Geneva 304).

As a partner of the Illinois State Board of Education that acts as an intermediary between the state board and local school districts, the Kane County ROE continues to provide an array of high-level services. These include, but are not limited to:

  • professional development opportunities
  • training for bus drivers
  • fingerprinting services
  • licensure issuance and renewal
  • high school equivalency exams as a Pearson VUE Testing Center
  • compliance and health-life safety inspections

The ROE also directly supports students through our Regional Safe Schools Program, our Alternative Learning Opportunities Program, and through the teachers we employ at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center. Our youth outreach staff also connects with our schools throughout the year to carry out building or home visits, provide families with resources, and work through cases of chronic truancy.

Our mission is to advocate for education, provide leadership, perform regulatory functions, and coordinate state and local services for educators, school districts, and the community.

Online Courses

We provide timely and relevant support to educators in their journey to meet the ever-increasing demands of teaching and leading through a variety of synchronous and asynchronous online workshops. All offerings provide participants with research-based, relevant resources and help address the critical issues facing educators today.

Through these opportunities, educators are empowered to make immediate and long-lasting changes in their professional practice to help increase student achievement while also meeting their social and emotional needs.

Administrator Academies

By statute, every administrator must complete a minimum of one approved academy annually and a minimum of five in each administrator certificate renewal period.

The Illinois Online Academy provides a range of online academies that meet this criteria while providing research-based strategies to help you on you journey. Topics range from combatting educator burnout, meeting and presentation tips, restorative practices, and more.
